水琴窟（すいきんくつ）の作り方

十川日本庭園研究室です。今回は水琴窟の作り方をご紹介いたします。水琴窟の構造は様々で、どの工法が良いとは一概に言えませんが、過去に十か所ほど作った中で私が一番良いと思う反響音を紹介します。先ずは当研究室が製作した水琴窟を動画でご覧ください（音が出ますのでご注意ください）

昔は造園学上、最高峰の技術と言われていましたが、蓋を開ければ簡単ですので皆さんも試行錯誤してみてください。ポイントをいくつか挙げます。
●異なる瓶(かめ）を二つ入れます。
これは、二十年ぐらい前に考案し、他の現場で設置しました。
●手水鉢（ちょうずばち）を用いないので、水面上に水の落ちる音がしません。また、ゴロタ石の上で水路（みずみち）が分かれることで音の変化が楽しめます。
●コンクリートの駐車場に配管を通すことで、梅雨時期の静かな時は家の中だけでなく３０ｍ先でも聞こえます。
●太い配管を横に通すことで、管理の上でも泥が溜まらずに清掃が容易です。
注意点は、木や竹の根などが入り込むと取り除くことが困難です。圧力のある高圧洗浄機を使わないと取れません。今後の作業の参考にしていただければ幸いです。
The structure of Suikinkutsu varies, and I can’t say which method is the best, but I will introduce the echo sound that I think is the best among the 10 places I made in the past.
In the past, it was said to be the best technology in landscape architecture, but it is easy to open the lid, so please try it by trial and error. Here are some key points.
●Two different bottles. This was invented about 20 years ago and installed at other sites.
●As no “chozubachi” is used, you can enjoy the change of sound by dividing the water channel (Mizumichi) on the “gorota “stone.
●Piping is passed through a concrete parking lot, so you can hear it not only in your house but also 30 meters away when it is quiet during the rainy season.
●By running thick pipes sideways, mud does not accumulate and cleaning is easy.
The point to be careful is that it is difficult to remove if tree roots or bamboo roots get in. It cannot be removed without using a high-pressure washer. I would appreciate it if you could use it as a reference for future work.

①事前準備 Preliminary preparation
整地をします。
Level the ground.
鉄筋を打ちこみ、レベルを出して印をします。
Drive the rebar and mark the level.
前石（まえいし）、瓶を仮置きします。
Put the front stone and the bottle temporarily.
瓶に陶器用（タイル用）のダイヤモンドドリルで穴を開けます。
Pierce the bottle with a ceramic (for tile) diamond drill.
穴を掘ります。
Dig a hole.
砕石を打ち輾圧（てんあつ）後に水をかけます。
Put crushed stone in the hole and pour water after loading.
瓶の側面にダイヤモンドカッターで排水用の穴を開けますが、下に水が溜まる分やや上にします。
We will make a hole for drainage on the side of the bottle with a diamond cutter, but I will make it a little higher as water accumulates at the bottom.
排水する側も穴を開けます。
Make a hole on the drain side.
②瓶の埋設・加工 Burying and processing bottles
モルタルを打ち、カメの底にシリコンを塗り付けたら据え付けます。
After mortar is applied and silicon is applied to the bottom of the bottle, it is installed.
土が入り込まないように養生テープで穴を塞ぎ、瓶に塩ビ管を差し込みます。
Cover the hole with curing tape to prevent soil from entering, and insert the PVC pipe into the bottle.
隙間をシリコンで埋めます。
Fill the gap with silicon.
周りをモルタルで固めます。
The surrounding is hardened with mortar.
排水側も同様にします。
Do the same for the drain side.
音の変化を楽しむために微妙に高低差を付けます。
In order to enjoy the change of sound, a slight difference in height is added.
③仕上げ・完成 Finishing and completion
グリ石で固めます。
I’ll harden it with guri-ishi(Round river stone of about 10 ~ 15 cm).
更に砕石を入れて水を打ちます。あまり強く輾圧すると瓶が割れますのでご注意を。
Then add crushed stone and water. Please note that the bottle will break if pressed too hard.
セメントと砂を混ぜて、水を加えない空練り（からねり）を均します。空練りは手水鉢や台石（だいいし）などを据える際に撤去が容易です。
Mix cement and sand to level dry kneading without adding water(karaneri). Karaneri is easy to remove when installing chozubachi and stones.
海（うみ）部分にモルタルを打ちます。
Strike mortar on the “sea”.
ゴロタ石を置いて音を確認します。
Put a gorota stone( A boulder was rubbed by waves and became 10 cm in diameter)and check the sound.
